Summer is here!Children everywhere are ready to tackle the nearest playground or swimming pool.Another school year completed.I remember that feeling of accomplishment and pride and couldn’t wait for summer to arrive so I could boast my “new” grade designation. I would like to introduce you to a special group of children that really do have reason to be proud. They are doing great things in their community and making a difference in peoples lives. They are the Kiwanis Kids or K-Kids at Eastside Elementary in Cabot, Arkansas. This group is comprised of third and fourth grade children and sponsored by their Media Specialist Pam Sowell and Miss Oates a fourth grade teacher at their school.
Before they left for their summer vacation, they took the time to create emergency kits that contained shampoo, toothpaste/toothbrush and note cards, etc., to be given to parents of children brought to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital emergency room. They also made individual “cheer notes” with handwritten messages that are placed on all meal trays for the children at the hospital.
Pam Sowell contacted us to see if SanLori would like to contribute to their efforts. We were so excited to get involved with this program. We sent an assortment of note cards, envelopes, foam tape and die cuts for the children to create their cards and emergency packets. They also had the opportunity to hand deliver everything to the Children’s Hospital. Our hats off to the K-Kids for showing care and concern for parents and children in need! This is a job well done. Now… enjoy the pool!
New York…. Well, there isn’t anywhere else quite like it.It is now a week since I’ve been back from the National Stationery Show and I’m finally feeling somewhat normal. It’s a lot of work these tradeshows! This was our first time back to the Jacob Javits Center in three years opting to hold party/product launches in the city for a change of venue.I have to say though; it was good to be back.
It was so great to see our customers. We spoke with some of our original accounts that purchased from us at our first show and met new enthusiastic store owners alike so all in all in was a very positive experience.Everyone at SanLori would like to extend a great BIG thank you to everyone who stopped in to say hello. We love our customers and appreciate all your support!
You probably haven’t noted this on your calendar, but May 10-14 has been designated asNational Etiquette Week. I am not sure if the month of “May” was selected by design, but it does seem most appropriate. Manners are a part of our social fabric and are truly more than simple pleasantries. AsEmily Poststated,” Nothing is less important than which fork you use. Etiquette is the science of living. It embraces everything. It is ethics. It is honor.” Unfortunately common courtesy is not that common. It’s important for all of us to be reminded that a little kindness goes a long way.
Oops! It’s not polite to lecture.I hate to admit it but I have had my fair share of missteps and social faux pas and to date have not reached Etiquette Nirvana.I am however, on the path.Thoughtful or Thoughtless? That’s my starting point.Even the girls of the Jersey Shoreare going to charm school. (OK, maybe it’s more of a photo shoot!), but good manners never go out of style.

Now Olivia is a whole other story…She looks 26, so she is sticking to that story! She invited 40 of her girlfriends over for a Birthday celebration/ Bazaar to celebrate her ??? Birthday! She served Arab cuisine and pink sparkling wine to all her guests. She created a Bazaar, by asking her friends that sold merchandise such as jewelry, art, kids PJ’s, women’s clothing and of course- stationery (*SanLori ) to set up a display. In her words, “It was a total success!”It sounds like a good time to me.I’m thinking about throwing myself a 26th birthday party too!
What is your “style” personality?Everyone has one.Thankfully, many tend to evolve and change as the years go by.You may have moved on from “Early Elvis Velvet,” to a more demure approach…or not.We are not here to judge either way.If you love it and it makes you happy, go for it! We all have to live with our choices, right?
That being said, I thought I would group our Chez (pronounced “shay”) Tray notepads with a personal style in mind.We have sixteen assorted styles that make wonderful Mother’s day gifts, bridesmaid’s gifts or an end of the year thank you gift for your favorite teacher. They are very useful, look great in the kitchen or on a desk and are fiscally friendly! Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and best of all,Summa Cum Laude are phrases that would make any graduate proud.Of course, just hearing your name called is not half bad either! It’s an accomplishment and a new beginning.A time to celebrate! It’s one of those big moments that needs to be embraced and cherished.Don’t let it pass by without a little fanfare. You could host a small dinner with friends, a backyard BBQor a main event; just do something to commemorate this achievement.

SanLori is thrilled to announce that we will once again be exhibiting at the National Stationery Show this May!After years of hosting “mini-shows” at some of New York’sfinest hotels, we felt it was time to return to the place where it all began.Be on the lookout for some exciting promotions that will be offered to celebrate our return to theJavits Center. And, we expect to see EVERYONE!No excuses! So between the dates of May 16th-19, join us in booths 2735-2737 at the National Stationery Show.We can’t wait to see you in New York!
And the color of the year goes to….Turquoise! It’s official according to Pantone, a world-renowned authority on color, so who are we to dispute it!And for that matter, why would we want to? This aqua hue is reminiscent of tropical settings and calming waters but can also take on a retro feeling as well. (ThinkSouth Beach) Bottom line, it’s flattering, it’s versatile and bridal blogs such as The Knot, Wedding Rumorsand Wishpot Wedding are touting it as the “it” color for brides in 2010. Many of our retail stores are using it their displays or informing their customers on their blog such as Seasons Cards and Gifts in Virginia.
So with that established, let me point you in the right direction to some fabulous invitations that are perfect for this bridal season. Actually, we really like this color and have used it throughout our line so there a plenty of choices. I will show you a few and hope you will do your homework and look through our website to get the scope of what we can offer!
I think by now we all know what weekend this is, right?Candy manufacturers are on overdrive, your local florist will be putting in some serious overtime, and there is even a new movie to commemorate this special day, all in the name of LOVE.Let’s face it, on the cheesiness scale, Valentines Day walks away with the crown.Chubby bears clutching hearts of swimsuit terror and boxer shorts with XOXO and Cupid intertwined can’t truly be, “just want we always wanted”, can it?
So, I wanted to share this with you.We just did this wedding announcement for a newlywed couple in Brazil.I love this photo and think it captures such a sweet moment. Love happens, rain or shine. So with the permissão of Rolf and Ana, this is our Valentine’s Day card to you. We hope you have a great weekend.Be good to someone and especially be good to yourself! And …enjoy those chocolates!!
